Last year was one for the books! We can’t help but celebrate all the small and BIG steps we took towards empowering women globally. Which is only made possible because of YOU! Three cheers for accomplishing big and small goals together, side by side.

We sent ELEVEN more bright and brave young women onto university!

We can’t wait to see the way change these women create in their communities.

Because of our Sseko Fellows, each of those eleven girls earned an additional scholarship!

The Sole Sister Scholarship program allowed us to quadruple each of our university bound girls savings. Earning them even more money towards their university fees! To learn more about how you can send more women onto university in 2o17, check this out! This year we’ll be also be able to include our Veteran team in the Sole Sister Scholarship bonus. That’s an additional 18 women!

SIX of our Sseko Fellows hit Adventuress status last year!

They’ll be heading off to Uganda later this year for FREE. How cool is that!? Learn more about how you can earn a trip to Uganda next year here!

The Sseko Fellows community gained an additional 100 world changing women!

We now have over 160 women across the United States sharing the story of Sseko and earning an additional income while they’re at it! You can become part of the community

We launched our first ever Kickstarter…and it was a total success!

Completely custom sandals are coming soon to a Fellow (who’s also a certified Sseko Stylist!) near you!

We co-designed a sandal with the lovely Sophia Bush!

In addition, we introduced two new sandal silhouettes! One of these required a last, which the women on our team had never used before! Our team also learned how to make many new jewelry pieces! And last but certainly NOT least, we also produced a few leather bags in Uganda this year! Moving from sandal making to leather bag construction to jewelry, these ladies continue to blow us away with their serious skills.

We’re officially in our OWN workshop on our OWN land!

Yep, the days of renting are behind us. There’s even space for an on-site garden! AND to top it off, Sseko Uganda is 100% managed by Ugandan staff. These were dreams we’ve had since Sseko’s inception. It’s been amazing to see them come true this year!

Our first group of Sseko US employees visited our workshop in Kampala!

We’ve heard through the grapevine that it was a trip of a lifetime. Check out this blog post for a few travel tips they picked up along the way!
