Photographer and travel-lover, she’s a Sseko woman through and through. We’re thrilled to introduce you to Abby Tohline as part of our Buy Better Not More series!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE FROM OUR FALL COLLECTION & WHY?
I love the leather wallet. Like, I am totally obsessed. The color and feel of it are so luxurious and amazing, and it’s the perfect size. I recently traveled to Canada, and it was the perfect size for holding my passport, while not being too bulky. I can also fit my phone in there, and turn it into a clutch, so that’s another bonus.
WHAT INSPIRES YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
Whatever makes me feel like me! I love a mixture of classic and funky styles. For example, when I had cotton candy pink hair, I wore a lot of classic black pieces. Audrey Hepburn is my style icon, but I always feel like I need something a little unique and weird in every outfit to really feel comfortable.
HOW DO YOU LIVE SIMPLY?
I try to surround myself with people who are easy to get along with and avoid drama. laughing and being happy are the best, and when you are surrounded by people that are kind and happy, life becomes more simple.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BUY BETTER, NOT MORE?
For me, I have a few pieces in my closet that I spent a little extra on, and the quality is so much better, I find myself being drawn to those pieces all the time. They last longer, and are more enjoyable to wear when they are better quality. Plus, if they have added humanitarian benefits, that makes it something you can be proud to wear.
WHAT PIECE OF THE BRAVE MANIFESTO RESONATES MOST WITH YOU & WHY?
“do things that scare you” being brave and stepping past those fears can result in some of the most rewarding experiences. When I look back on moments like that, I smile so big remembering that I was brave and that I grew and became even stronger in those moments.
WE’RE ALL FOR KEEPING OUR SHELVES STOCKED WITH CLASSIC READS, AND OUR MUSIC LIBRARIES TIMELESS. WHAT WOULD YOU ADD TO OUR LIBRARIES?
My all time favorite is Nine Stories by Salinger. I love when a short story can grip you and stay with you like that. Also, my husband is an award winning author, so I would highly suggest his book, The Great Lenore (by J.M. Tohline) you won’t be able to put it down.
