Recently, I have been reflecting back to June 2017. This was one of the hardest months of my life. After a bout of sickness, my youngest son Matteo, was diagnosed with epilepsy caused by fevers and overheating. News no parent ever wants to hear. I was fearful of not only his safety but what my life would now look like because of this change.
It was at this point that I became fearful of what my future looked like. You see, I was working from home in a career for almost 3.5 years and was becoming a slave to it. Day in and day out, I was working harder and harder with minimal results and next to no return on investment. I was overworked, overtired, overstressed and to be honest, underpaid.
I worried about what may happen if I had to go back to the 9 to 5 grind. Putting him in daycare would result in contact with more children and you know what that means…SICKNESS! As you know, with sickness comes days off of work. And with too many days off, you lose your job. Then what? I knew that the only solution was to continue to be a work at home mom. But I was SO weighed down physically, emotionally, and spiritually by what I was doing and wasn’t sure of what to do.
In August, I went to the Global Leadership Summit, in hopes to learn how to be a better leader to my team and in turn have a better return on my investment of time. It was at that point that I learned about Sseko. I ran home to research about this company and INSTANTLY fell in love. Within 6 hours, I had signed up for an interview.
And the rest is history! I sit here today, writing this post, reflecting about how much different my life looks now. While the constant worry about having a son with epilepsy haunts my husband and me, we find comfort knowing that Sseko has provided us with freedom. Not only financial freedom but the freedom to set my own schedule.
Because of Sseko, I am able to have the flexibility to work around my kids’ schedules. I do not have to worry about missing out on dance recitals or baseball games. I have been able to spend the last year with Matteo before he goes off to preschool in September, creating a deep unbreakable bond between us. And most importantly, I have the freedom to take time off when my kids are sick. Through Sseko, I have found my calling and it provides me with the freedom to schedule around the needs of my family, whatever that need may be.
