Our totes and clutches are produced by Kenyan artisans who earn a fair wage. Our producing partner employs over 40 artisans in their workshop outside of Nairobi and are passionate about reviving the tradition of producing high-quality "Safari grade" leather goods to provide jobs and support the East African economy. All the principal materials in our Kenya bag line are exclusively sourced from within East Africa with the aim of promoting not only the pedigree of locally available materials but to cultivate the indigenous handcrafting skills of Kenyan artisans. Our partner group also actively promotes and assists disadvantaged groups and supports a local Kenyan orphanage.
Over 90% of cattle in the East African region are owned by subsistence farmers and pastoralists. Our partners support these small-scale, family-owned farms around East Africa. The revenue Sseko earns from every tote and clutch is reinvested back into Sseko and is helping us grow our employment capacity and social impact programs (including the Sseko Scholarship Fund) in Uganda. Every Sseko Has A Story. Shop Sseko Leather Bags.
